Poste : Master Thesis Offer, Sainte-Luce-Sur-Loire

As part of a collaborative project, the company ACTiLED Lighting  (located in Nantes - 44) and the Hubert Curien Laboratory (LabHC – UMR 5516, Saint-Étienne) are offering a 6-month Master’s internship on the following topic:

« Development of a radiation-tolerant electronic architecture for lighting using innovative 230V AC driver technology»

  • The goal of this internship is to assess the suitability of COTS components for use in new electronic designs intended for harsh environments, particularly radiation-exposed conditions. This work will involve
  • Conduct an audit of the main existing lighting functionalities currently used within the company;
  • Carry out a technical of radiation-hardened components and material available on the market (COTS, space-grade, rad-hard, etc.);
  • Perform a literature review on technologies that are less sensitive to radiation including LEDs and power drives;
  • Develop a measurement plan for the irradiation of components and/or complete systems including tests analysis and results summary.
  • Characterize existing electronic systems exposed to irradiation;
  • Document all activities performed and compare the obtained results with the expected performance.

The irradiation tests will be carried out at the Hubert Curien Laboratory, which specializes in the characterization of photonic and optical systems exposed to harsh environments, particularly radiation environments.

This internship is part of a broader trajectory that could include the preparation of a PhD in electronics (2026– 2029) within the framework of the ACTiLED / LabHC collaboration and potentially funded through a CIFRE program. The internship will take place primarily at ACTiLED premises, with occasional work at the Hubert Curien Laboratory for irradiation testing. The internship will be paid according to current regulations.

Candidates for this internship, and potentially for the subsequent PhD position (funding not yet guaranteed), are invited to submit a detailed CV and a motivation letter. The recruitment process will include an interview with both project teams.
